Legislature endorses the United Nations Millennium Development Goals adopted in 2000 as a framework for assessing Hawaii's efforts toward sustainability.

Recognizes eight goals to be achieved by 2015: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, combat HIV/AIDS and other diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, and develop global partnerships for development.

Urges county councils to endorse and use the Millennium Development Goals as indicators for measuring each county's sustainability efforts.

Directs certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Governor and the Mayors and Council Chairs of the respective counties.
