Requests all domestic and foreign insurance companies that have issued commercial general liability policies in Hawaii to submit information on total premiums received for such policies over the past ten years.

Submission deadline set for May 3, 2011, during the regular session of the Twenty-sixth Legislature.

Prompted by Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals decision in Group Builders, Inc., v. Admiral Insurance Company (2010) that construction defect claims are not covered under contractors' general liability policies.

Addresses concerns that contractors who purchased policies expecting coverage for bodily injury and property damage from construction defects may face financial hardship without insurance protection.

Requires certified copies be sent to the State Insurance Commissioner, Hawaii Insurers Council, General Contractors Association of Hawaii, and Building Industry Association of Hawaii.
