Recognizes February 2012 as "Hawai`i-Grown Cacao Month" to educate and promote public awareness of Hawaii-grown cacao and its benefits.

Notes that cacao was first introduced to the Hawaiian Islands in 1850 and Hawaii is the only U.S. state that can commercially grow cacao.

Highlights that Hawaii-grown cacao commands a price premium two to four times higher than fine flavor cacao traded in world markets, according to E. Guittard Chocolate.

States the global cacao market generates $75 billion annually and that Hawaii's proximity to Asia and the continental United States positions it to capture growing market opportunities.

References prior resolutions (H.C.R. 216 in 2003 and H.C.R. 270 in 2008) supporting cacao industry development and notes the industry currently has fewer than 30 growers and approximately 50 acres in cultivation.
