Department of Health must provide a written update to the Legislature on current strategies for addressing the diabetes epidemic in Hawaii, where more than 110,000 persons have diabetes.

Report must include an estimate of costs from implementing an obesity prevention pilot program and describe innovative solutions to address the pre-diabetes problem.

Department must submit the report no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2012 regular session.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Governor, Department of Health Director, Department of Human Services Director, Department of Education Director, Office of Hawaiian Affairs Director, and University of Hawaii President.
