Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is requested to adopt rules requiring mobile electronics installers to educate customers about applicable noise laws.

County police departments are requested to vigorously enforce existing ordinances prohibiting excessive audio equipment noise in motor vehicles (30 feet audibility in Honolulu and Kauai; 50 feet in Hawaii County and Maui).

Motor vehicle owners with aftermarket audio equipment are requested to be respectful of others when using their audio equipment.

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, each county's Chief of Police, and each county Council Chairperson.
