Urges the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Aquatic Resources, to determine the current population of the akule (big-eye scad) species in Hawaii.

Addresses concerns from commercial and recreational fishermen that the akule population is declining rapidly and may be depleted for future generations.

Notes that a 2001 "Management Plan for Hawaii's Akule Fishery" established fishing boundaries and bag limits but did not include a population study of the species.

Requests consultation with commercial and recreational akule fishermen to establish management practices for species preservation after the population determination is complete.

Requires transmission of a certified copy of the resolution to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
