Legislature endorses the United Nations Millennium Development Goals as a framework for assessing Hawaii's sustainability efforts.

Eight goals include eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing global partnerships for development.

Urges county councils to endorse and use the Millennium Development Goals as indicators for each county's sustainability efforts.

Directs transmission of certified copies to the Governor and the Mayors and Council Chairs of Hawaii's respective counties.
