HR 240 Summary

• Requests the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawaii at Manoa to develop enhancements for tourism-related capabilities of the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization Data Portal.

• Enhancements must include visitor origin data from major markets, additional analytical capabilities for tourism data, expanded graphical display options, and visitor trend data at state and county levels.

• Requires inclusion of micro-level trends and visitor attendance data for major attractions, including National Park sites.

• Directs the School to develop an online tutorial and provide regular in-person training seminars to visitor industry professionals on how to use the Data Portal.

• Requires the School to submit a progress report to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2012 Regular Session convenes.
