Request that the Governor proclaim the second week of August annually as "Hawaii State Assistance Dogs Week," beginning in August 2011.

Acknowledge that Hawaii has 227,000 citizens with disabilities, many of whom wait three to five years to obtain a service dog.

Recognize that assistance dogs, including service dogs, guide dogs, hearing alert dogs, and alert/seizure response dogs, transform the lives of people with physical and mental disabilities.

Aim to raise public awareness and education about the contributions of specially trained assistance dogs to Hawaii's citizens with disabilities.

Direct transmission of certified copies to the Governor of Hawaii and the Hawaii Humane Society.
