Creates a Hawaii Pre-Diabetes Research Task Force within the University of Hawaii comprised of five graduate student representatives from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, Department of Psychology, Department of Political Science, Department of Public Health, and Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition.

Task force members serve without compensation for the duration of their active graduate student status and shall study prevention strategies, track policy changes, and analyze pre-diabetes data.

Task force must submit a written report of findings to the Legislature no less than twenty days prior to the 2013 legislative session convening.

Addresses Hawaii's diabetes crisis, noting more than 110,000 persons in Hawaii have diabetes, approximately 39,000 undiagnosed, and that nearly 80 percent of diabetes cases involve overweight and obese individuals.

Copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to University of Hawaii departments, state agencies, the Governor, the Department of Health, the Department of Human Services, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, the American Cancer Society, and the Hawaii Association of Health Plans.
