Department of Hawaiian Home Lands requested to convene a task force to study feasibility of developing an arena and testing/inspection facility on Hawaiian Home Lands on Molokai for testing backyard poultry flocks for avian diseases.

Task force to examine potential economic, social, tourism, and health effects from constructing such a facility on Molokai and feasibility of similar facilities on other Hawaiian islands.

Task force composition includes Attorney General, Director of Health, Director of Transportation, Dean of University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, and representatives from Molokai game fowl, farming, and livestock associations.

Task force chair to be selected by member organizations and report findings and recommendations to Hawaiian Homes Commission Chairperson by November 1, 2011.

Task force to be dissolved after adjournment of 2012 Regular Session; Legislative Reference Bureau authorized to assist with drafting any proposed legislation.
