Congratulates Kristen Brummel as the 2011 Hawaii State Teacher of the Year, a National Board Certified teacher at Noelani Elementary School who focuses on inspiring fourth-grade students through discovery-based learning.

Honors seven district teachers of the year: Michelle Colte (librarian at Hale Kula Elementary), Alisa Bender (vice principal at James Campbell High School), Deborah Yasuda (first grade at Puohala Elementary), Sandy Cameli (sixth grade at Konawaena Middle School for 25 years), Scot Kiyonaga (band teacher at Maui Waena Intermediate), and Althea Arinaga (fourth grade at Kapaa Elementary).

Recognizes each honoree's individual educational philosophy and commitment to student development, including emphasis on lifelong learning, community service, accountability, and fostering student confidence.
