H.R. NO. 99 - Education Awareness and Appreciation Month

• Recognizes September 2011 as Education Awareness and Appreciation Month in Hawaii to honor the contributions of education to the State's economic, social, and cultural vitality.

• Designates specific weeks in September for different school types: first week for public schools, second week for charter schools, third week for private schools, and fourth week for home schools.

• Acknowledges the role of public, private, charter, and home schools in shaping the minds of Hawaii's students and promoting their success through confidence, self-awareness, tolerance, and respect.

• Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Board of Education Chairperson, Superintendent of Education, Executive Director of the Charter School Administrative Office, and Executive Director of the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools.
