Hawaii Tourism Authority shall contract with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit engaged in promoting Hawaiian culture to develop and maintain an online Hawaiian cultural resources inventory database accessible to the public.

Database shall include information on Hawaiian cultural resources, programs and activities relevant to the visitor industry, activities promoted by local organizations, and other relevant information to strengthen knowledge of Hawaiian cultural resources statewide.

Hawaii Tourism Authority shall develop the database in consultation with the Governor's office, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, state foundation on culture and the arts, University of Hawaii, hotel associations, and other appropriate public and private organizations.

Appropriates unspecified general revenue funds for fiscal years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 for database development and maintenance, with requirement that Office of Hawaiian Affairs provide dollar-for-dollar matching funds.

Act takes effect July 1, 2011, and requires Hawaii Tourism Authority to report on the database as part of its annual report to the governor and legislature.
