SB 1213 Summary

• Creates a temporary task force to review and recommend amendments or repeal of state and county administrative rules that impose burdensome or unnecessary costs on businesses, particularly regarding county building permits.

• Task force composition includes representatives from the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, Pacific Resource Partnership, and directors from state departments (Transportation, Business/Economic Development/Tourism, Comptroller) and county planning departments (Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, Hawaii).

• Comptroller and Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting director shall convene the initial meeting, with task force members selecting a chairperson from among themselves.

• Task force shall submit findings and recommendations to the governor, county mayors, and state and county agency heads no later than twenty days prior to the 2012 regular legislative session.

• Effective upon approval.
