SB 1425 Summary

• Prohibits the largest landfill existing as of January 1, 2011, in counties with populations of 500,000 or more residents from accepting municipal solid waste beginning July 1, 2017

• Authorizes each county with populations less than 500,000 residents to determine by legislative resolution a date after which their landfills cannot accept municipal solid waste

• Exempts special waste and waste generated from natural disasters from the landfill prohibitions

• Becomes effective upon approval
