Requires the director of public safety to report any death of a correctional facility or community correctional center employee or inmate to the governor within forty-eight hours, who then reports to the legislature.

Reports must include the decedent's name, status as inmate or employee, location of death, date and time of death, and cause of death.

Director must immediately report the official cause of death to the governor once determined, and the governor must immediately report it to the legislature.

Director may withhold the decedent's name pending notification to next of kin or if the identity is protected by state or federal law.

Act takes effect upon approval.
