Establish a healthy families initiative pilot program within the department of health to address chronic diseases related to personal behaviors and unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Program shall include data collection on population needs and motivations regarding healthy lifestyle choices, measurable health and cost outcomes, and accountability systems for measuring results.

Appropriates funds from general revenues for fiscal years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, with no less than a specified percentage of appropriated funds required for preventative services.

Program aims to reduce chronic disease incidence, support families in adopting healthier lifestyles, and reduce health care expenditures for avoidable chronic diseases in compliance with federal health reform requirements.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
