Requests the Department of Health to create a Lupus Awareness Task Force to promote public and health professional education about lupus among officials, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.

Task Force must develop a comprehensive plan focusing on minority populations and at-risk communities to raise awareness and educate health professionals, human service providers, and consumers.

Plan should include distributing health information from national organizations, developing educational materials for health professionals, supporting continuing medical education programs, and conducting statewide workshops and seminars on lupus.

Task Force consists of seven members designated by the Director of Health, including representatives from state agencies, lupus researchers, medical professionals, non-profit organizations including Lupus Hawaii, and individuals with lupus; members serve without compensation but receive travel reimbursement.

Director of Health must submit the Task Force's comprehensive plan to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 Regular Session convenes.
