Request the University of Hawaii System to explore ways to build capacity at the community college level for training direct-care paraprofessionals, professional caregivers, and family caregivers to meet the state's aging population needs.

By 2023, 20 percent of Hawaii's projected population of 1.4 million will be 65 years or older, creating increased demand for skilled caregivers.
