Legislature supports the Thirty Meter Telescope Observatory Corporation's Workforce Pipeline Program to prepare local workforce for employment at the Thirty Meter Telescope Project on Mauna Kea, Hawaii Island.

Encourages collaboration between the Thirty Meter Telescope Project, Department of Education, Hawaii Community College, University of Hawaii at Hilo, and community organizations to develop and implement comprehensive workforce training and education programs.

Workforce Pipeline Program will focus on strengthening STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills through scholarships, internships, and mentorships for students from elementary school through graduate school.

Observatory operations are expected to require approximately 120 full-time jobs once construction is complete, with the project committed to hiring local workers.

Encourages identification of apprenticeship program opportunities with relevant trades and development of preliminary curriculum for students interested in STEM fields.
