Request that the Civil Defense Division of the Hawaii Department of Defense work with county civil defense and emergency management agencies to evaluate tsunami evacuation sites across all counties in the State.

Evaluation must assess evacuation sites for elevation, distance from shoreline, proximity to hazardous infrastructure, and vulnerability to tsunami effects including wind damage, flooding, and debris inundation.

Evaluation must include recommendations for improving tsunami evacuation sites based on assessment findings.

Civil Defense Division must submit a report of findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 Regular Session convening.

Resolution references 2011 tsunami warnings when residents were directed to evacuation sites located close to shorelines and in low-lying areas, prompting the need for this review.
