Request the Department of Health to create the Lupus Awareness Task Force to promote public and health professional education about lupus among officials, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.

Task Force to develop a comprehensive plan focusing on lupus education and awareness, with emphasis on minority populations and at-risk communities.

Comprehensive plan must include distributing health information from national organizations, developing educational materials for health professionals, supporting continuing medical education programs, and conducting statewide workshops and seminars.

Task Force to be composed of seven members designated by the Director of Health, including representatives from state agencies, lupus researchers, healthcare professionals, nonprofit organizations including Lupus Hawaii, and individuals with lupus.

Director of Health must submit the Task Force's comprehensive plan to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2012.
