Adds new section §353C to Hawaii Revised Statutes requiring the director of public safety to report deaths of correctional facility or community correctional center employees and Hawaii inmates within 24 hours.

Reports must be submitted to the senate president, speaker of the house of representatives, and legislative committee chairs with primary responsibility for public safety issues.

Each report must include the decedent's name, whether they are an inmate or employee, location of incident, date and time of death, and cause of death.

If the cause of death has not been officially determined at the time of initial report, the director must provide notice of the official cause within 24 hours of receiving that information.

The director has discretion to withhold the decedent's name pending next of kin notification or if identity is protected by state or federal law.
