HB2111 - Selective Service Registration Awareness and Compliance Act

• Requires all male U.S. citizens and resident males aged 18-26 to be in compliance with the Military Selective Service Act to enroll in state-supported post-secondary institutions and qualify for state financial assistance for education.

• Prohibits individuals not in compliance with the Military Selective Service Act from being eligible for employment by the State or any county, including positions in offices, boards, commissions, departments, and agencies.

• Directs the University of Hawaii and state/county employers to ensure applicants and employees comply with the Military Selective Service Act.

• Provides exceptions for individuals under 18 or over 26, those on active military duty, non-citizens, Trust Territory or Northern Mariana Islands residents, and those with other qualifying exemptions documented in writing.

• Takes effect upon approval.
