Requires the state historic preservation officer to review archaeological technology, including ground penetrating x-ray devices and geographic information systems, to identify and map artifacts without excavation.

Directs the officer to determine the costs of acquiring, maintaining, and using ground penetrating x-ray devices and geographic information systems.

Directs the officer to assess whether using such archaeological equipment is feasible based on technology costs and benefits to historic preservation efforts.

Requires the state historic preservation officer to report findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than twenty days before the 2012 regular session convenes.
