Financial institutions must report suspected financial abuse of elders (age 62+) to the appropriate police department immediately by telephone and within two business days by written report or electronic filing.

Financial institutions may also report suspected financial abuse to the Department of Human Services.

The Department of Human Services must inform the appropriate police department of all financial abuse reports received, with reporter identity protected unless authorized by court order or consent.

The Department of Human Services must share relevant financial abuse case information with police or the prosecutor's office for investigation or prosecution, with reporter identity protected except by court order or consent.

Financial institution employees and officers who make good faith reports of suspected financial abuse receive immunity from civil or criminal liability.
