Fiscal notes must include estimated fiscal impact for current and five succeeding fiscal years, fund sources, new positions required, derivation analysis, and preparation details.

Bill sponsors obtain fiscal notes from appropriate legislative agencies, which must furnish required information within 24 hours, with potential extensions for good cause.

Fiscal notes must be updated whenever committee amendments alter fiscal effects, and members may defer measures or withdraw floor amendments lacking required notes.

Exempts general appropriations bills, bills with specific appropriations, retirement-related measures, and federal-funded programs (with limited exceptions requiring notes).
