HI HB2466

Adds the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to the list of federal agencies whose officers may arrest persons under Hawaii state law.

Removes the Citizenship and Immigration Services from the list of agencies with arrest authority under state law.

Allows officers from FBI, ICE, and United States Customs and Border Protection Service to arrest without a warrant for assaults, crimes involving physical harm, public order offenses, felonies, or when holding a warrant for arrest.

Requires the special agent in charge of the FBI Honolulu Division, special agent in charge of the ICE Honolulu/Guam/Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Division, or the port director of the Honolulu area port of Customs and Border Protection Service to certify that officers have received proper training to make arrests under this statute.

Takes effect upon approval.
