Establishes a diabetes and obesity prevention task force chaired by the director of health to develop prevention legislation and research best practices.

Task force shall develop and recommend diabetes and obesity prevention legislation, assemble research and demographic data on prevention outcomes, and research state and county organizational policies and best practices.

Comprises 16 members including the director of health, directors of human services and education, representatives from the University of Hawaii and health organizations, and legislative leadership.

Task force shall meet monthly from July 2012 through November 2012 and submit findings and recommendations to the legislature no later than 20 days before the 2013 regular session convenes.

Task force dissolves on July 1, 2013; act takes effect July 1, 2012.
