Transfers law enforcement jurisdiction over Iolani Palace buildings and grounds from the Department of Land and Natural Resources to the Department of Public Safety, effective July 1, 2012.

Department of Land and Natural Resources retains management of historic preservation functions and rulemaking authority for Iolani Palace.

Department of Public Safety sheriffs gain primary law enforcement jurisdiction while the Honolulu Police Department retains secondary law enforcement duties at the site.

Sheriffs are prohibited from entering the Iolani Palace building except for law enforcement purposes when circumstances warrant.

Department of Public Safety must submit a plan with funding projections to the legislature by December 31, 2011 to implement the law enforcement transition.
