Department of Taxation and Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism are requested to examine House Bill No. 2055, which proposes an income tax credit for maintenance of solar energy systems.

Departments must conduct a cost-benefit analysis and determine the feasibility of offering a tax credit for solar water heating systems.

Departments are requested to submit a report with findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the Regular Session of 2013.

Resolution is rooted in Hawaii's commitment to energy sustainability and the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative goal of achieving 70 percent clean energy consumption by 2030.
