Requests the Department of Health to conduct a study on sexually transmitted diseases among persons over age 65 in Hawaii.

Study must include statistics on prevalence, use of protection, awareness of infection, testing, and available outreach, prevention, and treatment programs within the state.

Department of Health must report findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2013.

Resolution notes that national studies show people over 50 are less likely to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and more likely to engage in unprotected sexual activities.

Cites concern about the growing elderly population and lack of research in Hawaii regarding sexually transmitted diseases among seniors over 65.
