Request that the Department of Public Safety exempt veterinarians from Part VIII of Chapter 329, Hawaii Revised Statutes (electronic prescription accountability system) through July 1, 2013.

Direct the Department of Public Safety to meet with the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association to evaluate whether the electronic prescription reporting requirements apply to veterinarians.

Require the Department of Public Safety to issue a written decision by August 31, 2012 clarifying whether veterinarians must comply with the electronic prescription system, and distribute copies to the Governor, Legislature, and all licensed veterinarians.

Request that the Department of Public Safety submit proposed legislation during the 2013 Regular Session to clarify the requirements of Part VIII of Chapter 329 based on its decision.

Provide veterinarians a reasonable compliance period by exempting them from reporting requirements during the exemption window while the Department determines applicability.
