House Resolution honoring the United States Navy for environmental and Hawaiian cultural stewardship in Hawaii, including celebration of Makahiki and protection of native ecosystems.

Four Hawaii naval installations earned 2011 Chief of Naval Operations Environmental Awards: Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (Cultural Resources Management), Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Pearl Harbor (Environmental Quality), and Pacific Missile Range Facility Kauai (two Natural Resources Conservation awards).

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam operates photovoltaic arrays to reduce energy costs and runs a fuel oil reclamation facility to decrease disposal costs and foreign oil dependence.

Pacific Missile Range Facility Kauai partnered with Ke Kula Niihau O Kekaha and the National Tropical Botanical Garden to create educational displays of pre-contact Mana Plain habitats.

Pacific Missile Range Facility Kauai collaborated with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge to protect Laysan Albatross populations at the facility.
