Recognizes Whitney Houston (August 9, 1963 – February 11, 2012) as one of the greatest recording artists of all time and the most-awarded female recording artist ever.

Acknowledges her achievement as the only recording artist to chart seven consecutive number 1 Billboard 100 hits and her career sales of over 170 million albums and singles along with six Grammy Awards.

Honors her humanitarian work including support for civil rights, anti-apartheid efforts with Nelson Mandela, and organizations that raised funds for homeless children and children with cancer and AIDS.

Recognizes her military support, including her January 27, 1991 Super Bowl XXV national anthem performance donating all proceeds to the American Red Cross Gulf Crisis Fund and organizing the "Welcome Home Heroes" concert at Naval Station Norfolk for servicemen and women.

Acknowledges her struggle with substance addiction as a message to encourage others to seek treatment, and directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to her family.
