Requests the Attorney General to convene a task force to study the need for state legislation on innocence redress to provide compensation and services to wrongfully convicted and imprisoned persons.

Task force chair to be the Attorney General or designee, with appointed members including judges, county prosecuting attorneys, the state Public Defender, a Criminal Justice and Corrections Section representative from the Hawaii State Bar Association, and experts on scientific evidence testing.

Department of the Attorney General to provide administrative support for the task force.

Task force to consider the provisions of House Bill No. 1985 (Regular Session 2012) in conducting its study.

Task force to submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2013.
