SB 2047 Summary

• Increases the review period for county legislative bodies to approve or disapprove affordable housing projects from 45 days to 60 days after receiving preliminary plans and specifications from the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation.

• Projects are automatically deemed approved if not disapproved by the 60th day (previously the 45th day).

• Removes the county councils' option to approve projects "with modifications," allowing only outright approval or disapproval.

• Applies to affordable housing projects exempt from local zoning, planning, and construction standards under Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 201H-38.
