Requires persons hunting on privately owned land to obtain written permission from the landowner, in addition to holding a valid hunting license under chapter 183D.

Applies the written permission requirement to hunting with rifles, shotguns, and pistols or revolvers on private lands.

Adds a new definition of "place of formal hunting" to include state or federal lands where hunting is allowed, or private lands where the owner has given written permission for licensed hunters.

Allows transport of unloaded firearms and ammunition in enclosed containers between a person's residence and a "place of formal hunting" without violating firearm confinement laws.

Clarifies existing law requiring written permission to enter private land for hunting purposes by specifying that such permission must be in writing.
