Department of Education and Hawaii High School Athletic Association required to develop a concussion education program for high school students

Program must educate students, parents, school personnel, and sports officials on signs, symptoms, and appropriate response to concussions

Coaches and athletic trainers must receive annual educational sessions on concussion recognition and management

Students displaying concussion symptoms must be removed from activity and evaluated by a licensed health care professional before returning to athletics

Athletic trainers must monitor students upon return to athletic activity using appropriate medical standards
