S.B. 2779 Summary

• Establishes authorization for a statewide aging and disability resource center with sites in each county to streamline access to long-term supports and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers.

• Designates the aging and disability resource center as a single point of entry where individuals can access information and apply for federal, state, and county-funded programs including Medicaid, Medicare, Older Americans Act services, and Kupuna Care.

• Requires the executive office on aging to coordinate implementation of the statewide resource center, which may function as a part of each area agency on aging.

• Appropriates $1,400,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2012-2013 to the department of health for establishing and administering the statewide aging and disability resource center.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
