Expresses support for Lā'i'Opua 2020 and its efforts to construct the Lā'i'Opua Community Center Complex in the greater Kealakehe community on Hawaii's Big Island

Lā'i'Opua 2020 was founded by homesteaders of the Kaniohale Community Association, a Native Hawaiian homeowners association, to provide adequate health care, social services, and recreational facilities

Construction of the Community Center Complex is on schedule with federal, state, and private sector grants already secured and pre-development tasks completed including environmental review, archaeological survey, rezoning, and subdivision approval

First phase of the project includes construction of a preschool, community center, and associated road and parking areas

The Committees on Hawaiian Affairs and Human Services recommend adoption of the resolution
