Modifies Section 436B-27 to clarify that licensees who inadvertently fail to maintain licensing requirements but subsequently correct the failure with no lapse in licensure are exempt from misdemeanor charges for unlicensed activity.

Modifies Section 708-8300 to clarify that contractors who inadvertently fail to maintain licensing requirements under chapter 444 and subsequently correct the failure with a lapse of no more than 60 days in licensure are exempt from unlicensed contracting activity charges.

Removes the previous exception language for "circumstance of first instance involving the inadvertent failure to renew a previously existing license" and replaces it with more specific corrective action standards.

Does not affect rights, duties, penalties, or proceedings that occurred before the July 1, 2013 effective date.

Effective date: July 1, 2013.
