Removes the sunset date from Act 170, Session Laws of Hawaii 2002, making permanent the liability protections for lifeguards providing services on beaches and in the ocean.

Lifeguards remain protected from liability except in cases of gross negligence or wanton acts or omissions.

Repeals the June 30, 2014 expiration date that was scheduled for the lifeguard liability protections under Act 170.

Legislature finds that the liability shield is a life-saving measure that enabled counties to provide lifeguard services without fear of litigation.

Takes effect upon approval.
