Requires all child care facilities caring for children one year of age or younger to develop, maintain, and implement written safe sleep policies approved by the department to prevent sudden unexpected infant deaths and sudden infant death syndrome.

Mandates that infants under one year old be placed on their backs for sleeping unless a written waiver is obtained from a health care professional.

Requires child care facility operators and employees to complete department-approved training in safe sleep practices.

Requires operators to discuss the safe sleep policy with parents or legal guardians before enrollment and obtain signed acknowledgment that the policy was received and discussed.

Requires child care facilities to promptly report to the department any deaths of children one year of age or younger that occur at the facility.
