H.C.R. NO. 157 - Summary

• Request that the City and County of Honolulu pave and adequately maintain Kamilonui Road in Hawaii Kai to support the Kamilonui Valley farming community.

• Kamilonui Road serves 87 acres of agricultural land on 14 farm lots, plus daily users including farmers, recreational users, and multiple government agencies (city sanitation, emergency medical services, Board of Water Supply, Department of Agriculture, U.S. Postal Service, and Hawaiian Electric Company).

• Kamilonui Valley farmers hold only a 15-year lease extension from Kamehameha Schools and will lose their land in 13 years, preventing them from financing major road repairs that will revert to the landowner.

• Directs certified copies of the resolution to be sent to the Mayor, Managing Director, City Councilmember Stanley Chang, Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board No. 1 Chairperson, and Livable Hawaii Kai Hui Board of Directors.
