Urges the United States Congress to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to John Kuulei Kauhaihao of Honaunau, Hawaii, for his extraordinary heroism and ultimate sacrifice in combat.

First Lieutenant John Kuulei Kauhaihao (born April 17, 1942) served with Company B, 2d Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) during a reconnaissance-in-force operation in Tay Ninh Province, Republic of Vietnam.

Threw more than 30 hand grenades at enemy bunkers within 15 minutes, drew enemy fire to protect his men, crawled 100 meters across fire-swept terrain to rescue equipment and wounded soldiers, and was mortally wounded while engaging an approaching enemy squad.

Previously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by the President of the United States for his heroism and devotion to duty.

Directs transmission of certified copies of the resolution to the President of the United States and the Hawaii Congressional Delegation.
