Department of Education requested to meet with interested parties to examine feasibility of establishing a boxing pilot program in at least one Hawaii public high school

Department must report to Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2014 Regular Session convening on whether a pilot program was deemed feasible, establishment efforts, and outcomes if program is established

Resolution notes that youth and amateur boxing include strict safety guidelines requiring protective equipment including headgear, mouthguards, and padding

Resolution cites that high schools in California, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, and New York have successful boxing programs and that boxing teaches hard work, dedication, self-defense, and stress relief

Certified copies to be transmitted to Board of Education Chair, Superintendent of Education, Hawaii State Boxing Commission, Hawaii High School Athletic Association, and Amateur Boxing Association
