Hawaii Tourism Authority is requested to produce an ocean safety video for visitors to Hawaii.

Hawaii Tourism Authority is requested to work with airline companies to show the ocean safety video to all incoming passengers on flights to Hawaii.

Between 2002 and 2011, 288 nonresidents and 249 Hawaii residents drowned in the ocean according to the Department of Health.

Hawaii typically sees approximately 60 to 70 accidental deaths among nonresidents per year, but 2013 was on pace for higher numbers with at least a dozen visitor deaths early in the year.

A certified copy of the resolution is to be transmitted to the Executive Director of the Hawaii Tourism Authority for distribution to all airline managers operating inbound passenger flights to Hawaii.
