• Request the Department of Accounting and General Services to participate in the Hawaii Prostate Cancer Coalition's "Light the State Capitol Blue" initiative during the 2013 Regular Session of the Legislature.

• Request the Comptroller to permit a banner encouraging men to speak with their physicians about prostate cancer to be displayed on the state capitol grounds during September 2013.

• Recognize that prostate cancer is the second most common cause of male cancer-related death in the United States, with an estimated 800 diagnoses and 110 deaths projected in Hawaii during 2013.

• Acknowledge the federal and state proclamations designating September as National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and note that the City of Honolulu previously illuminated Honolulu Hale blue in support of prostate cancer awareness.

• Transmit certified copies of the resolution to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Comptroller.
